Chronic Low Back Pain can be crippling. When we are in acute discomfort, a mostly restorative practice can help release gripping around any injuries in lumbar region and allow the body to have some space to put itself back together. I say "mostly" restorative because there are moments when a little bit of effort can really help to create space. The effort in this class is all in service of putting an impression of width into your lower spine. We then primarily relax into restorative postures to create more ease.
I'm not a doctor and if you have an injury you should of course talk to a doctor before you take this class. This practice combines yoga poses with other simple exercises that were all extremely helpful to me when I did have chronic low back pain a couple years ago. Over half of it is restorative yoga so you will need a bunch of props. Check out the trailer to see the specifics, but here's a quick list of what you need:
• two yoga blocks
• a round yoga bolster plus one blanket OR 3-4 blankets/towels if you don't have a bolster
• a yoga strap or a looped resistance band
• any chair, stool or table that you have near your practice space
