Kevin: Stable Hips and Open Twists (64 minutes)
Play Hard
•
1h 4m
In this class, you will learn to twist the spine deeply and effectively in open postures like utthita trikonasana (triangle pose), parighasana (gate pose) and parvritta upavishta konasana (revolved seated straddle pose). This family of twists are tricky - the outer hip has to work very specifically to create stability in the lower body so that freedom can come to the torso. Luckily, my sweet dog Alfie comes by a couple times during class to offer you encouragement while we flow.
For class, I demonstrate with two blocks, one blanket and a yoga strap. The blanket is just to cushion the knees and if you don't have a strap, I explain how to modify along the way. You'll also want a chair for the end of class - any chair (or couch or low table) will do! Hope you enjoy!
