Kevin: Yin to Restore Your Shoulders (65 Minutes)

1h 3m
This practice combines postures from Yin and Restorative Yoga with a few functional movement techniques to release tension from the shoulders. In this way of working, poses are held for longer periods of time with minimal muscular effort. This will hopefully create a deeper release in the body, as these sustained holds can begin to impact the fascial network that connects all the muscle fibers to one another.
The shoulders tend to absorb tension and postural misalignments from work, smartphone use and general stress. This tension can be felt in the upper back, the chest and the neck. In class, we aim to release some of the many muscles at play in the shoulder joint complex to help reset the body into healthier position.
While there isn't much effort here, you will find that this type of practice requires a new form of stamina. You may need to come out of poses sooner than I suggest and that is 100% amazing. Do not get into competition with yourself. If you need to take a break, take one.
I demonstrate with the use of some props: two blocks and three blankets. If you have a yoga bolster, that might prove useful as well. Having access to a wall will also be helpful for one pose.
