Kevin: Leg Work for Lotus Pose (65 Minutes)
Get It: 45-65 min

1h 5m
In order to fold the legs into padmasana (lotus pose), we first have to create a good amount of horizontal width across the front of the pelvis. The inner thighs need to learn how to move away from each other, while the outer hips learn to hug inward to create stability. In order to understand these actions, we actually have to spend a lot of time with them in standing poses like Warrior 2, Side Angle, Half Moon, Tree and Goddess.
This is a vinyasa practice, but there are no "linking vinyasas" or chaturangas in class. We spend a lot of time with our feet wide apart and focus on some very deep, challenging and specific work in our hips. The work is a bit relentless, but you will definitely feel a marked shift in your hips by the end of class if you stick with it.
Props are simple -- two blocks to give you a little more space. Reach out if you have questions!
